Who We Are & What We Do

Coloring the Eastern Shore (CES) is a nonprofit organization working to increase visible support and create a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community along the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay and the rest of Baldwin County, AL. Our mission is to provide inclusive services and support to LGBTQ+ individuals and their families, while also advocating for equality and acceptance. Through our work, we aim to foster a community where everyone feels respected and valued for who they are.

Our
Story

Get to Know Us

A few years ago, the LGBTQ+ community in Fairhope, AL decided to celebrate Pride by leaving messages of hope, love and support to the community using sidewalk chalk at a local city park. What started with words on the concrete grew into artwork, with a message of love and acceptance woven like a tapestry around a Fairhope walking trail.  The chalk grew into a fToday, members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies continue the message during our annual Coloring Fairhope with Pride festival and celebration. This annual June event has grown into the largest Pride celebration festival on Baldwin County’s Eastern Shore and brings together all citizens for an afternoon of community.

Yet, Color Fairhope With Pride (CFWP) is more than just an annual celebration; it’s a powerful statement of unity and allyship for the LGBTQ+ community on the Eastern Shore. It’s a gathering where LGBTQ+ youth and adults can witness the unwavering support that surrounds us year-round. From family activities available throughout the park, live performances on stage, and a generous turnout of vendors representing supportive businesses, organizations, and local projects in the area, CFWP sends a clear message: we are not alone, and we belong here.
